    Sorry for the confusion everyone, the 3 wires together are 2 red and 1 black, as per the photos. What's happened now is that the toilet light is now all sorted but the bedroom ceiling light will not switch on.... Its the room next to the toilet. So the problem obviously lies with the 2 red...

    I took the old bulb holder out hoping to replace with a new flush light fitting, but I do not see an earth wire. To be honest , the wiring is probably over 50 yrs old! As I cannot use the metal fitting I bought, I would just like to fit a new batten holder, but I have no idea where the wires go...

    Sorry it was a poor description...I hope these photos help to get an idea of what I'm on about! Do I just attach the loose ends to the choc bloc? how does this work, do the wires have to touch or do i use permanent flex connectors instead?[/img]

    a candle bulb has blown in my 5 light chandelier, but it seems to have fused itself inside the lamp'holder'. i twisted it until the bulb actually broke off, and now im still left with the metal base stuck inside! will an electrician be bothered to fix such a thing? :oops: cheers!
