    CU Neutral Copper Bar?

Hi. I recently moved into my house and had the CU open today. It is a split with one side protected by RCD, and the other half not (although this side has RCBOs). Noticed on the RCD circuit side, that there isnt a copper bar from RCD to each individual circuit on the load side. There is a...

Hi. I have a pre filtered master phone socket which is surface mounted. I'm looking to change this to have it flush as it's taking up room behind unit. I've done a quick search but couldnt see any flush plates for this, so could I change this pre filtered plate for a normal master one and then...

    12v at light switch

Just wondering why there would be 12v showing on my meter when I put my tester across my cables at the light switch? The room only has 1 light switch, but wired as a 2 way with both L1 and L2 being used. I've disconnected everything, and between L1 and L2 I get 12v, between common and L2 I get...

    Ring main leg split

Wasnt sure how to title this. Just been checking the ring mains today as have recently moved in, majority fine apart from some dodgy radials from ring main. The fridge freezer is powered from the ring, but only one cable at socket. Upon investigation (Belling out), it seems one of the ring...

Cat urine bare wooden floors clean

Hi. We moved into a new house and it stinks of cat urine. Our carpets are being ripped up and we are going to clean the bare wooden floors, but what to use? Those who are fitting our new flooring said to use Jeyes, but it says its only outdoor use. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Fitting TV stand to plywood

Hi, I have a TV stand to mount to the wall thinking it was just 1 sheet of plasterboard (so was going to use spring toggles) but behind the plasterboard is a sheet of plywood it seems (seems to cover all wall). Am I okay to screw my TV stand straight into plywood? Screws I think are around M5/6...

    Cooker switch neon

Have a cooker switch with neon, lights up fine when switch is turned on. However, when turned off at switch, the neon still glows faintly. This neon will only go off completely when I turn the cooker on by the nobs. Switch has worked fine for nearly 3 years so guessing it's just faulty switch...

    Outside light, IP44?

Fitting an outside light soon, and suggested to customer to go for a higher rating than IP44, due to no shelter covering light. Problem is, can't seem to find much online, all seems to be IP44. Am I being too careful? Have heard of water ingress getting into IP44 before, especially with UK weather.

    Toilet slow refilling

As the title says, old toilet in house which has never properly worked. Takes a long time to refill in the cistern, water just trickles out refilling. Also, not sure if related but when I flush, water doesn't flow all around the bowl, just half. Picture attached of after flushing in cistern.

We moved into a house which was derelict for a few months at least after the previous owner passed away, and the radiators apart from 3 have never worked correctly. Constantly have to bleed them as only about a quarter of the radiator will heat up, about once a week. That's two upstairs...

    Filler on skirting once painted

Painting white MDF skirtings and have filled the nail holes and painted an undercoat and primer, and two coatings of quick dry satinwood. I can still see where I've filled over the nails though, either a slight bump where I've not sanded enough or a slight curve where I guess I should've applied...

Replacing existing downlights in my kitchen, with a 200mm void between my kitchen roof and bedroom floor. What type of downlight would be recommended? Obviously depending on manufacturer, but what is the normal recommended clearance for situations like this?
