New radiator added to system not heating up

Added a new radiator to the system but its not heating up. Have bled the radiator, all fine. Pipes are hooked up to the correct flow. No leaks in valves, pipes or radiator. Pressure is fine on the boiler. Hot water & hot rads everywhere else. Valves are fully turned to on position (duh!) Taken...

    Hive hub wiring come out

Accidentally pulled a cable out of my Hive central heating hub. As can be seen bottom right. Does it just go back in with the existing wires, or do they go into separate connectors?

    Extending cables

Fitted a Velux window over the weekend and there are a couple of cables running directly underneath. Cant be moved out of the way, so need to extend them. I'm fine with extending the electric cable (using a 30A junction box), but what about the earth cable - assume this cant be extended...

    Plumbing vent leaking through roof

I have a plumbing vent pipe going up and through the roof in the loft. I've noticed its been leaking through the roof and dripping down into the loft. I'm assuming it has/had a rubber boot type thing on the outside that prevented this and has stopped working. https://imgur.com/72JHCYg From...

Honeywell R6660D to Hive Receiver - not firing up boiler

Just decommissioned my old Honeywell system with a R6660D receiver that was connected up to the boiler (working perfectly). Wired it my new Hive receiver, hooked it all up to the thermostat and hub but it's not firing up the central heating on the boiler. The green light is coming on on the...

    Struggling to remove window beading

Need to replace a number of "blown" double glazed sealed units. Have managed to remove 3 in the conservatory with no problem by using a putty knife to remove the beadings. One in the kitchen appears a slightly different design and I cant remove the beading - obviously dont want to damage the...

What type of connector block is this?

Initially thought it would need a male bullet but I bought the smallest one available (red 4mm) and it was way too big for the hole at the top. Maybe it needs a female connector? Each one is about 6mm wide. It's on an indicator stalk of an old VW camper

Having a bit of a nightmare with my house alarm. Its an Aritech CS45003 alarm with a CD34 keypad unit. I recently had a "Low Battery" warning on the keypad unit so I took the cover off the alarm unit and changed the battery for a new one. As soon as I connect up the new battery and...

    Nail through copper CH pipe

Just put a floorboard nail through a hot central heating water pipe. No big drama, just drained the system and no damage so all fine. In terms of fixing it, I assume its OK to cut the pipe either side of the nail hole and use a compression coupler to join the pipe back together?

Log cabin base on a sloping garden

Wanted to gauge opinions. I'm looking to erect a circa 5x4 metre log cabin in my garden. Its a 44mm interlocking cabin so it carries substantial weight. There is also a slight slope on the base area (approx 1ft from top to bottom) to slightly complicate matters. One option is raised...

    Raised decking plan

I’m building some raised decking on my garden to host a summer house. My garden has a slope so the decking does need to be raised. The summer house is quite large (5m x 4.5m) and will be heavy so I want to ensure I build a suitably heavy duty base. For the decking “stilts”, I’ll use 4”x4”...

Anyone know what type of underlay this is? Appears to be a type of loose fabric as opposed to rubber or felt.

    No pressure in cold tap

I have a basin in my ensuite bathroom and the cold water tap has no pressure at all, fully turned on the tap is only producing a small trickle of water. There's no problem with any of the other cold taps in the house or with the hot water tap in the en suite. What could be causing this?
