    John Harrison, bad gas advice

The Twinflow used a normally open switch that is all. But a SPDT switch in any flow switch, using the normally open contacts of the switch will do. Rinnai used an off-the-shelf ATAG boiler. You could have the two in a frame or separately in different parts of the house. You should have wrote...

Replacing 3-way valve in wood-pellet boiler system

Yes. use pump adapters and a full flow ball valve on each side. Those valves act as restrictions.

Replacing 3-way valve in wood-pellet boiler system

It is a mixing valve. Change the valve. Some makers have kits that only replace the sealing glands, which are cheap. Check before buying a whole new valve. Do not change the actuator.

    Myson kick space heaters

I have a Kickspace. Piping up in less than 15mm is dodgy. The small kW unit maybe OK. Suck it and see, but makes sure the water temp is high. They need flow. Also they do not work too well when the temperature of the water is too low, which can happen with some condensing boiler's auto...

    John Harrison, bad gas advice

Will you point to this dangerous advice? It has gone over everyone's head.

    Combi: 4 moving parts

That was very harsh indeed. The Ideal Response was probably the worst combi known to mankind.

Electrogear. I told you the ad hominem and unsubstantiated nonsense would come. :) Every time they come in without fail.

    Thermal Store Installation

The heat is stored and you use the heat when you need heating. Hence the name "thermal store".

    Thermal Store Installation

Electrogear, another alternative, you could fit as suggested two combis. Two Intergas Rapid 25kw, which combined with give over 20 litres per minute, give natural CH zoning, one up one downstairs, and can take solar heated hot water, according to Intergas. You also have backup. They will cost...

    Thermal Store Installation

Electrogear, as an alternative, you could fit a: Worcester Bosch Greenspring instant water heater delivering 21 litres/min. It is 50kW. Cost about £1,300 Fit a small, cheap, system boiler doing the CH. A vented solar cylinder with a big mains pressure coil with mains cold water being preheated...

    Thermal Store Installation

Electrogear, go the way you think is best because it is the best in your circumstances. You are obviously a professional by your attitude. You want solar later, so the thermal store is the best option. Unvented cylinder store high pressure water in a house and need G3 to fit and G3 to service...

    Combi: 4 moving parts

All points that the Modena is an excellent boiler. Earlier Ferroli's were just crap. It is simple, small physical size, well made, cheap enough, with a higher enough flowrate if you want, and a decent service backup. They turn these out in large numbers. People should not only look at an...

    Combi: 4 moving parts

I said all that? I did? All by myself? Wow! Sounds interesting though whoever said it, especially an electric heater on a long draw off run. That would give instant hot water at the taps and the combi would fill up the electric heater with hot water? I have actually seen that fitted. Nice one.

Plastic? I've gone off it. Copper is back in fashion.

Plastic out of sight with no joints. Copper on the surface.

    Combi: 4 moving parts

OK a flow switch would need a moving part, a switch. Although solid state pressure sensors and a venturi detecting changes of pressure when a tap opens can eliminate that as well, but more expense and two pressure sensors may be needed to detect the pressure change quickly and the item may be...
