How to connect 22mm pipework to 3/4 BSP bar mixer shower.

I'm replacing a bath with a shower in my ensuite. I've exposed two 22mm H/C pipes which previously fed the bath and the ensuite basin. These will eventually feed the shower and basin (nothing else). The shower I'm trying to fit - a Mira Atom ERD - requests 1/2 BSP inputs which it then converts...

Two wires to single light switch

What do you think of this? Am I missing something, because it makes no sense to me. It's a light switch which controls a light at the end of a loop in circuit. It's a one way switch and I can't see why there would ever be a need to make this a two way switch (it's a downstairs cloakroom)...

Unsupported upstairs wall - surveyor or engineer

I've been in my 1930s semi for a couple of years. I've recently noticed that one of my upstairs walls is solid (blockwork I presume) and not supported by a corresponding wall below. I also noticed that the door frames in this upstairs wall are heavily distorted. There is a sag/creep of several...

    Adding noggins between joists

I'm adding a some noggins mid span on a first floor to try to stiffen the floor up a bit. The joists are 47x200mm (400mm centres) and I have some 47x170mm to nog with. Plan is to stagger the noggins and screw through the existing joists straight into the end of each noggin. Was planning on...

    Waste pipe for downstairs toilet

Hi, Hopefully this is the right forum section. I'm looking to run a waste pipe from a new downstairs toilet into an existing downpipe from an upstairs toilet. The way I see it I have 2 options (see picture). 1. Route pipe along wall (with the proper fall) and round the corner into the...

Adding socket to Consumer Unit - notifiable?

Hi, I'm running all my Ethernet cables to a network switch under the stairs (which is also the location of the consumer unit). There's no power under the stairs so I'd like to add a double socket to power the network switch and also a Network Attached Storage (NAS) enclosure As I understand it...

    Stiffen bouncy floor

My new house has a recent extension which feels very bouncy on the first floor. There's some heavy oak furniture in the room and it doesn't "feel" very safe, although I acknowledge that it's probably unlikely that the floor will actually fail. The span is just under 3.8m and the timber joists...
