    Stretch (membrane) ceiling

Has anyone tried it out. I need to replace the old lath plaster plaster ceiling. Thought a membrane ceiling would be lighter/faster. Before I go and spend my hard earned money on it I would like to hear your experiences. Pros/cons. Here are some links -...

Corner joist clearance from wall and which hanger to use?

I need to replace the first joist. IIRC I read somewhere that a gap of 25 - 75mm should be left between first joist and the wall. My existing bad joist is touching the wall. Do I have to leave a gap. If so, how much gap should I leave from the wall? Also, a normal face mount hanger will not work...

    WBP exterior grade plywood - 25mm vs 18mm + 3.6mm (or 6 -9 mm)

Hi all, time to replace old 22mm floorboards. Joist centres 37mm apart. I am looking at ply options. My local store has either 18mm or 25mm thickness. No 22mm. Problems: 1) Price for 25 mm > two times price for 18mm. 2) Weight, 25mm will weigh much more than 18mm so difficult to carry upstairs...
