    Wet underfloor heating brand recommendations?

As above, has anyone got a actual experience of fitting wet underfloor heating systems and which systems would you recommend? So far I'm looking at John Guest, Polypipe, ProWarm and Continental UFH. I want to make sure I get a decent system and it's difficult to compare the available ufh kits...

    Tall kitchen corner unit?

What’s the best way to go into and around a corner in a run of TALL kitchen units? Most places seem to sell only base or wall corner units. I want to fit a full size fridge, full size freezer at either side of corner. I have a maximum of 1820mm wall to wall at one side and plenty (3750mm)...

Is manifold plumbing better than branching off?

Good morning. I’m looking for advice regarding plumbing the hot and cold around the house having built an extension and moved the kitchen and bathroom. There is an additional utility room and downstairs loo also. I’ve noticed that the Americans are big on manifolds and wondered if that would be...

Underfloor heating with central heating radiators.

Can anyone explain how ufh works with central heating already in place. We would like ufh in our new extension and I was wondering; If there are radiators without TRV’s fitted do I need a zone valve to prevent them warming up every time the ufh triggers the boiler? Thanks.

    Milano angled chrome valves/tails-no seals??

Hi everyone. I'd appreciate some advice please. I have bought some Milano "minimalist" chrome radiator valves to fit to some vertical radiators. I also bought some flow restrictors due to them being fairly tall radiators. On unpacking the valves, I was surprised to find that the part where the...

    Shared rainwater downpipe question?

Hi everyone. I have done a bit of searching on here and on Garden Law forums, but cannot find an example of my exact query. I live in a semi detached ex local authority house. There is a shared downpipe between the properties both front and rear, exactly in the centre of the boundary line...

    Gas pipe sizing question

I needed a boiler fitting before Xmas so was pleased that a local firm was able to do it. The guy who came round seemed very knowledgeable but then he didn’t fit it-he sent 2 young lads. They ran the pipe from the back of the external meter box into the extension in 28mm pipe, which in the...

    Gas pipe question(s)

Please can any qualified gas plumbers give me some advice? This is NOT for DIY purposes, I just want to know what options are/could have been for the gas supply to our new extension. The extension walls are block work and are not plastered yet. We had the main incoming gas supply moved to an...

Does a 15mm water meter manifold restrict water flow?

Hi everyone. I've tried asking this question on the Internet but there seem to be a lot of conflicting information out there. I am wanting to find out if I would see any improvement in water flow if I were to have my 15mm concentric water meter manifold upgraded along with the incoming water...

Plumbing connections to internal soil pipe?

Hello all. I saw this illustration/example on a website which gives out advice on DIY. However, I am sure I recall reading previously, that such a connection is not acceptable and will result in cross flow from the toilet into the bath/shower tray? Shouldn't any connection only be made to a...

    Honeywell Evohome any good?

Hello all. I was previously looking at the Honeywell Evohome system as a means of zoning the entire house. There is also a controller available for the wet underfloor heating. I will be replacing the central heating combi boiler with an unvented pressurised system/boiler, so in doing so I will...

    Advantages of manifold plumbing?

I am beginning the process of planning the plumbing layout from the main house to the extension. I was wondering if there would be a noticeable difference between using manifolds, tapping off to each appliance, or just supplies to the furthest appliance(s) with t-pieces branching off to each...

Any builders familiar with Wimpey no fines houses?

Are there any time served ex Wimpey employees on here,or anyone who has previous experience of the Wimpey no fines, poured in situ concrete houses? Has anyone ever extended one and in doing so, have cut through the rebar at first floor level? I'm trying to find out if it is safe to do so. Does...

No DIY electrics allowed? How do I get a decent sparky?

I need a sparky to wire my extension. Would I save much money by doing all of the first fix or is it not worth it? How do I find a good electrician who I can rely on to do the job properly? Thanks.

Waste pipes under block & beam (ground) floor?

Please can someone offer some advice? When building our extension, we discovered that the neighbours' sewer pipe went straight into our manhole, which we had planned to remove. As such, we were instructed by the water company, to provide an inspection chamber outside of the building (extension)...
