Battery fault 100 - possibly Castle Euro?

I’ve read a few threads and all seem to point to new battery required, which is fine. Is this something I can do myself and would I need to book an engineer visit to reset the alarm anyway as per a YT video?

    Not something I’ve seen before…

I attended this today, boiler fitted approx 6 months ago, not working. After some initial investigation I found the mcb had tripped. Replaced the 3 amp fuse and tried again - pop goes the fuse and mcb again. Checked inside the boiler for wiring, not the best and thought it must be a strand...

    Toshiba TV intermittent fault

Hi, I’m seeking some advice if possible. My above mentioned tv is playing up, albeit intermittently. We knock it off at the plug, as we don’t leave it on standby (no physical button). Sometimes when it’s plugged back in and turned on, the tv doesn’t come on. It used to have a plastic Earth...

Tragic - outcome might be interesting

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-66750871 High voltage? Wonder what they’re classing as high voltage? I thought it was more the amps that killed from touch, not necessarily the voltage? - people survive being struck by lightning which is high voltage.

Utter crap really as this is the 2nd time it’s happened, Blum sent out replacements foc last time as they’d only been in approx 2 years. I know i need a replacement but unsure what it’s called...

    Fake/counterfeit on site guide

Good evening, So, to possibly help me with some education, I decided to purchase a copy the 18th edition on site guide; BS7671:2018. I knew about the BS blue cover having fake ones being produced, but I’ve since read the on site guide can suffer the same fate too. I bought it from ebay from a...

    Door sill - repair possible?

Hi all, I’m wanting to know if this is a sill and if it can be repaired? I have tried wood filler and painted it, but the paint always seems to peel. Using Rustins external black gloss. If not, I think this is a composite type, can I replace with timber or would it need to be composite...

    Broken neutral help?

I’m still learning about wiring. Am I right in thinking if an existing thermostat was left in place with the neutral connected via the fcu, if there was a broken neutral fault, then the thermostat end could become live? Thus, would be better decommissioned? Thanks

Is this still allowed and what about moving house?

I found this oldish thread and wanted to know if the answer still stands, that I can legally swap my hard wired smoke alarms in my own home? I asked Aico technical, and they said I need an electrician because the base plates are being swapped, sound like nonsense to me, but thought I’d check as...

    Decent paint?

I’ve searched, but can’t seem to find anything current and relevant. I’m usually a Dulux/Crown person, I’m not against own brand/alternatives, but was disappointed in Wickes own white ceiling paint (thought I had dipped my roller into water and spread on the ceiling). So are there any others...

    What’s the consensus regarding this?

I attended a job today (for something different) and noticed the boiler had been wired up using the existing flex and the flex that comes pre-wired to the boiler joined using connector blocks and wrapped with insulation tape, on show. I presume it was a “permanent” fixture as the boiler was...

    Technology

I’ve recently found that the more technology “seems to advance”, it becomes more susceptible to failure. I’ve also found, expensive stuff, is just as bad. Some examples: Honeywell wireless thermostat, price range circa £100 - had several fail Some gas valves fail, replaced another one today...

    Odd Worx Combi drill behaviour

I’ve never got into the workings etc of power tools, so I’m after some assistance. I have a Worx brushless combi drill, model WX367. The battery charger states the battery is full, I’ve since measured it today, and it measures 20.35Vdc. The behaviour is this: the drill works without a load...

Poor wiring diagrams or poor understanding?

I thought I’d asked this before, but I can’t seem to locate the thread. Why is it that certain manufacturer’s state a switched live as a neutral conductor, instead of stating switched output/live, or, is this my poor interpretation? (Examples below) Is it that with all intents and purposes...

    Ford transit custom radio issue……

Afternoon chaps, I have an issue, not sure if anyone can help. It comes up on screen with a message stating my vehicle is equipped with a wi-if hotspot, and may be eligible for a complimentary period. I have looked in almost, if not all the settings that are associated with wi-if, updates etc...

What brings a tear to your eye when you laugh?

Ive just been listening to/watching YouTube on my phone whilst doing some washing up, and couldn’t help but have a few tears in my eyes when Bradley Walsh on The Chase starts losing it with laughter. Two fine examples are: The Fanny Chmelar question, and this beauty: What is the cartoon...
