Yes that price includes vat.
I did a lot of web searching for good prices, I was then recommended to a plumbers by a plumber in the family and found that they also had a website.
Their price for the boiler I was interested in was comparable to other internet shops prices that didn't include...
I admit I haven't asked any questions (can you blame me ?), but I've found the forum to be a good source of knowledge and 'tricks of the trade' over the last few months while I've been replacing my CH system.
It's a shame that there is so much unpleasantness in many of the posts, often from...
You would almost think that diy'ers aren't welcome here.
I've only been visiting this forum for a few months but have been surprised by the amount of 'smart Alec' or sarcastic replies to what often are just straight forward requests for help or opinions.
Several posters seem to revel in...
It may be legal but I wouldn't be happy with that pipework on the front of my house, gas or water.
Apart from the uglyness what if the window cleaner caught it with his ladder etc.
Boxed in or sheaved would still look ugly.
It seems to be part of a general move to remove lead from the enviroment.
Lead is also being removed from electronic components with the plating of component connections moving towards tin or gold with no added lead.
Our company's electronic component catalogues are gradually being updated...
My old gravity hot water, pumped heating system had a restrictor fitted in line with the pump which, while not appreciably affecting the pumped flow, stopped any gravity flow through the radiators.
Maybe your system needs something similiar ?
I would think that TRV's undergo a temperature test at the factory, ie that at certain TRV settings they restrict the flow at given temperatures.
If these figures were available then that would give you a starting point, for a specific temperature, at which to set your TRV.
I personally...
Hello Corgiman, You've made some good points.
Sorry if I gave the impression of being conceited, I can assure you that I don't think I'm any better than a plumber or any other trade for that matter, we all try to make a living somehow.
I wasn't saying that a plumber should be earning down...
As I said you're living in cloud cuckoo land, you have proved my point !
With your inflated wages, the only way you can come to terms with a typical skilled person's rate of £10 (or in my case £13) is by suggesting that the person is a cleaner or crap at the're job.
You're accusing me but...
One of the points I was making was that the £10/hr bank workers rate didn't have to apply to a 'cleaner' and was quite representative of many other skilled people's rates, including my own.
If I was a 'cr*p' engineer I probably wouldn't have lasted 30 years in the same company - do cr*p...
I get the impression that you plumbers live in cloud cuckoo land !
I certainly believe that a bank worker (non-cleaner) could be on £10/hr.
I'm always amazed by the hourly rate that plumbers get.
As an electronic equipment design engineer, my job requires electronic/ mechanical design...
I've noticed that a lot of people on this forum seem to have chips on their shoulders going by their sneering sarcastic replies !
Quite a lot of those sort of replies come from plumbers, perhaps their inflated hourly rates have gone to their heads ?
