Smart lightswitch neutral, used the one attached to back of box?

Erm so I installed a smart light switch with the neutral cable that was handily screwed to the back of the box. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to do that? Is it okay? Should I put it back? What solution for this?

    Previous tenant painted over muck

Hello, So between the council (council owned property) and the previous tenant, someone has decided that you don’t need to remove pieces of food, blue tac or anything from the walls before painting them. There’s even streaks of paint, you can see where it was dripping down and eventually dried...

Combi Boiler display quickly going from 75,76,77…80,75…

It iterates very quickly almost in a second from 75 up to 80. It’s not an error code at least not one coming up when searching. The pressure is fine (in the green range). I had recently turned the heating on for the first time in a couple (summer) months. Nothing unusual. Any ideas?

Wet room bathroom floor - what should I do with it?

Council flat, the wet room (more like a splash room) which partially drains towards the door rather than the drain… apparently it’s supposed to be like that otherwise people will fall over! (Council worker said so). Anyway, the pattern on the floor looks like vomit. I’d prefer if it was a dark...

Hook & eye lock not holding open? Just slips out when you pull away

Erm I’m confused I was under the impression hook and eye locks were simple to install But here I am trying to install a little one to my living room door to hold it open (from child) I’ve attached the hook to the wall. But when I put it in the ‘eye’, it just slides right out the moment it gets...

Wet wood around bathroom built-in cupboard

What should I do with this? The bathroom has a built-in cupboard and long story short water on the floor flows towards the cupboard. The cupboard door isn’t full size. So the bottom is like a wooden frame. But yes the wood has turned black & wet. I don’t believe it’s deep in the piece of wood...

    Wooden board floor, flooded

Erm so my flat was flooded before with upstairs’ bath water Ground floor flat Which was great fun to clean up. Council’s advice was to turn off the inlet water (smart!) Anyway, I kinda just cleaned it up and forgot about it. (I don’t handle stress well. Especially with all the others...

Reoccurring wall cracks - What should I do?

I live in a rental flat and it’s location is pretty much perfect for my needs. So I don’t really want to move any time soon. But since moving in, I realised there’s a lot of cracks all over the place. Pretty much every single wall or ceiling has at least one crack across it (left to right)...

Loud Whale shower gulper noise? Sucking more than water available

Hey, My electric shower, “wet room” make loud noise when it’s pulling water in, I’ve had the pump itself replaced and checked for blockage etc Plumber said it’s probably because the pump is pulling more water than is available. So it basically makes a loud noise from the water & air mixture...

    There’s cracks everywhere

I moved into this flat some months ago and I really couldn’t tell you if these cracks have appeared over time or were already there. As I’ve been pretty oblivious to it except a couple which I noticed on the ceiling. I haven’t decorated the walls at all since moving in. Mostly because I cba...

If you open tap past half way it starts making a loud noise?

FullSizeRender by DannyDyer posted 11 Apr 2022 at 3:08 PM I’d much prefer if my tap didn’t make this noise. Any ideas? I would understand if there was a gushing flow of water. But the pressure for that tap is pretty low. So it doesn’t really make any sense?

Shower Gulper Pump Is Noisy - It’s Like A Grumbling Monster

So my bathroom has a Whale SDS021T shower gulper pump. When it’s running, it sounds like a monster of sorts grrrrrumumumum and it’s really irritating. I avoid taking a shower because I can’t bear the noise. So it’s not something I can just ignore any longer. It was recently replaced (pump was...

Can I lift out a sheet or two of my lock in wooden flooring without starting at the edge..?

So there’s an odd smell, I can’t really describe it. But I’ve checked everything and coming up empty handed. It only seems to be present in the morning around 9 o’clock - when I’m eating breakfast at the table. Anyway, I’ve checked everything… The only place I haven’t checked would be under the...

Fitting ring doorbell at an angle, on a doorframe narrower than the doorbell

So let’s just say for sake of this post that a Ring doorbell camera is 500mm width. My doorframe must be around 400mm wide and the wall after isn’t usable. I suspect I could get some triangular piece of wood and screw it to the door frame… I need the camera at an angle anyway. Any better...

Mould around pvc window frames, under a layer of paint

I live on my own with my toddler. So I don’t exactly want to have anything to do with mould. Let alone finding free time to **** about with it. Which doesn’t involve a small human touching everything. So what can I do? We moved in to this flat and council told us, they had mould here before...

How do I get this tap off?

I got this far… i think the number inside is k937a01 But Google didn’t offer much help. There’s no other screws, bolts or pieces of gum holding it on that I can find. I’ve tried pulling on it, tapping it with a hammer and asking it nicely. But this thing just won’t come off. No brand on the...

Wet room - Partially flows towards the door?

Right so I recently moved into my council flat. It has a wet room. Which has a shower, sink and a bog (toilet). If water from the sink goes on the floor or if you **** on the floor next to the toilet, it will flow past the shower and towards the door… Which obviously will cause issues. i stuck...
