    bein twisted wont have much effect. as for running at top of joist, they should be protected by a steel plate to protect again nails etc. some people would rather put them in existing notches for a few reasons. 1 its easier and 2 you dont weaken the joist even more. socket does look a mess...

    3 phase

    addin to above, each phase is 120 degrees apart. which is why you dont go from 230 to 460. phase-phase gives 400V. now, if there was no difference between each of the 3 phases, it would be easier just to have phase and neutral... in a balanced 3 phase circuit, there is nothin travelling...

    its split phase. think of a 110V transformer. you have 55V phase to earth and 110V phase-phase. now, if the earth was your neutral, and each 55V was your phase, there 180degrees apart 3 phase are always 120 degress apart

    xenon gas bulbs do give a blue tint, but for the 'true' effect you need HID's. probably 8-10K for even bluer

    on pic 2, tighten 1 (very top) on most TRVs, if you turn right down it will turn off completly

    depends what its used for but from what youve said itll be used often. you have 2 choices: buy cheap>replace monthly buy decent> replace every few years. cheap drills just dont last in trade use. there designed for light duty work.

    HELP!! Trying to wire in my cooker

    red earth brown? something sounds dodgy. use a multimeter to find out what is live and whats not. then connect cooker to this. this is how it should be done old>new red>brown (live) black>blue (neutral) green/yellow>green/yellow (earth)
