    Gas Supply Pipe Size Query

It is. You will have seen where gas supply pipes come up outside a building and are covered with a designed-for-purpose thingy. The problem indoors is that there aren't Standards governing depths etc, so it's not allowed, flat. ish. Gas pipe sizing has always been a bit of a mess. If you apply...

Less learning has been done, that's for sure. A significant chunk of our lot are mentally upset by it in one way or another. Kids have lost half a year or so, most will not catch up, they'll get left behind. I can only see it leading to a high proportion of kids flunking out.

In retirement I teach STEM a bit at a secondary school. Key, important chunks of syllabuses were missed. Up to half in some cases. Kids were "prepared" for the exams they did. From previous fake GCSEs we already have kids doing first year A's who aren't up to it so will drop out or fail. A...

    False positives...

Sorry they were Djangobanjo's "where plumbers on twitter understand medicine better than PhDs and BMBS" This thread has turned into another one where posters just shout "Rubbish" at each other and most of them are right......

    False positives...

It's just balance of risk. Geronimo is highly likely to have TB after multiple tests, so has to be shot. Sorry, tough if it turns out to have been a misdiagnosis. On balance of risk, anti-vaxers have been shown to be wrong, big time. The chance of some big unknown future problem from vaccines...

I can't see what is so offensive

I see that as needlessly tacky though, not amusing. That to me makes it offensive. Even if I didn't think it was offensive anyway...

    Drawing Pension at 55

Yes good advice from COnny (afaik!). Couple of things - If you transfer the lump to another pension company, you can put it into something which can have earning potential. Don't just let it sit. I have some in a not very risky stock related thing which went from 6xx to 7xx in the last year...

Remove all media, do we really have a pandemic?

AND you can get infected after double vaccines. Even shortly after. And it's another "So what?" That'll frazzle his noodle.

Remove all media, do we really have a pandemic?

People can die from reaction to a jab, nothing to do with the virus. So what? @EFLI - What's your question/problem?

Remove all media, do we really have a pandemic?

Ellal you seem to be going out of your way to try to misunderstand, or try to find misunderstandings in others' posts. The virus exists, that's not a matter of opinion. One can get symptoms from a vaccine similar to those from a virus because the antibodies are similar, of course. That's...

    Private Number Plates

Was walking in Essex with another couple and saw one of those little Peugeuot 206CC's - the ones which had the "handles" each side of the boot. So I point to it and say it must be a hairdresser's car. Mate bursts out laughing, his missus says "I don't get it". I let him explain.

Remove all media, do we really have a pandemic?

From reading around AZ-generated antibodies don't drop much at all at 12 months. Pfizer is something faster like 15% - I can't remember exact number - down at 6 months. There's more of an issue with AZ not being very effective in the first place against eg the beta variant. There's only one test...

Good News on Vaccines and Delta Variant

Querying things is fine, but it beats me why reasonably intelligent people enjoy finding some snippet of information, often on a silly website, then misapply it to a greater or lesser extent, always to discredit something or other. A hint of biology sometimes adds to the effect. Vaccines are...

Olympics - why aren’t there many/any black swimmers?

Roll on to the day when couples will be able to tweak their kids' genes. Most characteristics come from a number of different genes, which aren't easy to sort out, so companies will be able to sell their brews. "A shot of German number 3 efficiency, two shots of Ethiopian 4 endurance and one...

Olympics - why aren’t there many/any black swimmers?

Tis all over the net about bone densities and buoyancy, eg bones https://depts.washington.edu/bonebio/bonAbout/race.html. Long story short - the spreads overlap but the average "black" male has a small physical disadvantage. From that there should be more asian swimmers, if that was all there...

Good News on Vaccines and Delta Variant

I teach a little in a school as a volunteer, in retirement. Teachers probably all know that if you have a positive lateral flow test ( and they will have a dozen of those floating about) you're 99+% going to test positive on a PCR (Many of the false-positive LFTs are where a kid puts something...
