Coal Fired Boiler Heatsink Radiator & Removing DHW Cylin

My parents have a coal fired parkray back boiler as their connected to a gravity fed system of 2x rads and DHW cylinder. They want to get oil fired CH but keep the coal fire if possible. Would it be possible to remove the DHW cylinder from the current set up so that it could be heated by the...

    Aluminium Panel Rot

My g.f. parents own a caravan which hasn't been used in a number of years (though in good overall condition) and are trying to sell it. There appears to be some corrosion occuring on the body panels. They appear to be made of aluminium, and flaking has occured in the paint (the effect looks...

Dodgy workmanship, Bad installs, Bodge jobs. More Pictures

Not the worst wiring disaster that's on the site but I found a strange set up in the house I'm currently renting. It appears that a ceiling rose is being used as a junction box, between the floors. This might explain why there's a fault with the light in the room below! :?

Clanking noise when clutch engaged in low gear

The other day I began to notice a clanking noise, only in low gear however (1st and 2nd) where as I move off, something clanks. It happens again as I take my foot off the accelerator (to change into second), and again when I accelerate (in 2nd) Sounding a lot like a spanner going around the...

    Ford Brake Drum Bolts

Currently in the process of changing my back brake shoes on a Ford Escort. 3 of the 4 bolts sheared off on removal. They are M10 25mm long bolts, but are they specific in any way (ie high tensile) or can I use normal M10 bolts?

    Legal or Not Legal Socket

It was initially going to be a spur, but for some reason it was never finished and a plug ended up on the end. The main reason was so the computer could be switched off and the phone left on. And like Breezer said, it was done temporary and never finished. A job to look at this autumn I think.

    Legal or Not Legal Socket

Just a quick question, but I have a socket with my cordless phone plugged in which is basically a fancy extension lead. I.e. its a 2 gang switched socket with 2.5 t&e cable running to another socket, but rather than being permanently wired, as in a spur, it has a 13a plug on the end - it can...

    Removing Lockable Alloy Whel Nuts

I've only just realised that the car I bought privately in the spring has no lockable alloy nut key. So now I can't remove the locknuts. It is a Ford, as is my dads car, however his wheel key does not appear to fit my car (maybe they are subtely different for security?) Any ideas how to...

    Temperature Gauge Not Working

I have now found the right sensor. I know now that the gauge does work, and that its the sensor thats doesn't seem to be registering! Will pop in to see the local mechanic this weekend. Cheers

    Temperature Gauge Not Working

Could someone please confirm whether this is the correct sensor for the dashboard temp gauge? If so, the gauge does not appear to work after doing the 'diagnostic' test of bridging the two wires which I believe should send the gauge up to the max indicator.

Ford Key / Master Key Cutting

Possibly if the ketchup was £X in McD's and free in BK? :) It's just that I'd heard that Ford charge quite a lot and as well as that they charge seperately for key cutting and then programming...
