    Oops I did it again.....

Um...this is rather embarrassing but..... I 'did my business' the other day and the results were quite large. I pulled the handle in the usual way and thought that was the end of it, but no. Every time I use the appliance, the water rises way beyond what I'm expecting. I think my...

How easy is it to tile a wall?

I had a leak in my kitchen roof a year or so ago, it's been fixed now but it's left a hell of a mess - there's a crack in the kitchen roof and the wallpaper is hanging off. Just by chance I think I have enough tiles to cover the wall where the damage happened, but I've never done tiling...

    Problems with society

Everywhere I go, I see people being selfish. Nobody gives a damn any more. And yet, our society is rooted with problems because of this. Rampant crime, people dying etc. Maybe this isn't the place to air this type of issue but why not? You are people after all. It can't be easy being...

Help! I'm not a DIY guy!

Hi again, My kitchen door has never fitted right since I moved in here, so I decided to tackle it today. I bought a wood chisel and I've been shaving bits off of it so that it closes neatly without rubbing onto the door frame and sticking. Trouble is, my doors have these little wooden...

    Dyson not working

The Dyson Dual Cyclone vaccum cleaner I've had for a few years is giving me trouble. It still works at sucking things up from the bottom, but when I remove the hand attachment to do the skirting boards for example, there is no suction. How would I go about unblocking it? Thanks.

    How good are my windows?

The windows in my flat are what I would call panel windows, they are pretty flimsy. The gap between the two glass panes in each panel is only about 1cm I'd say. How good is this at keeping the cold out? TIA.

    Electric heater keeps going off

Hi, I have an EWT electric heater that keeps going off when it shouldn't. I'm pretty sure it's down to the internal relay that's supposed to act as a coverguard, for example if someone threw a blanket over it, it switches itself off before a fire occurred. I don't have any experience with...

    Draught blowing in from windows

Hi, there is a noticeable draught blowing in from my living room windows when it's windy outside. It's coming from the bottom, where the metal frame meets the wooden sill, there's a large gap running across. Can I just fill this in with putty from B&Q or somewhere, is that the best solution...

    Door closer not working

I live in a block of flats and there's a Yale door closer on the entrance door. It has never worked since I've been here (six years). The door always slams shut instead of closing slowly. Can it be adjusted, or will it have to be replaced?
