You can hear noise alright - it wakes me up at 5am every day. Sounds like the pump is moving bubbles around the system. Hmm, how would air get drawn into the vent? (excuse my ignorance). It will take about 5 mins to relight - that is constantly pressing at the ignition button.

We had something similar with our boiler, but in this case the pump didn't come on either. It was due to a valve that was up the duff. We had to run the bath to stop the water reaching temp making the heating go off ! Took 3 different pumbers to eventually suss it.
