What exactly can I DIY without notifying buildings dept?

All, Thanks for your help. Very interesting. The reason I ask is I'm having a disagreement with my kitchen fitter and wanted to know if the worst came to the worst could I just do it myself. If it gets to that point I imagine the kitchen fitter would tip of the BCO about what I've done so I...

What exactly can I DIY without notifying buildings dept?

I did and couldn't believe the answer. I mean all it involves is unscrewing the face plate, unscrewing the screws holding it to the cabinet and then screwing it to the wall and putting the face plate back on. I suppose it must come under the alteration one as its not an extension or an...

What exactly can I DIY without notifying buildings dept?

I just have a quick question to ask of you learned folk:- If I have a socket (at the end of a spur) screwed to my kitchen cabinet, can I (an ordinary member of the public) unscrew it and attach it to the wall instead without having to notify my local council? If so does the same apply if I...

    Sockets located in new kitchen

Yes, one socket is for the fridge freezer and has the FCU (Ny terminology isn't all that so I assume that's a switch with a fuse next to it which is on the wall above the work surface). I wanted that behind the fridge but the kitchen fitter just ignored my wished and stuck the single socket in...

    Sockets located in new kitchen

I've had a new kitchen fitted and the installer has screwed various sockets to the insides of the cabinets rather than to the wall claiming he has to do this because of part p regulations and the socket has to be accessible. The sockets in question don't have switches (I believe they are fused...

    plugging oven into 13a mains

Thanks for all your help guys (or girls) I am happy to wire the oven in to the existing 13a switched spur for the time being. If I get any problems like fuses blowing or rcd's tripping (I had a quick read of the other thread about a bosch oven) I'll get an electrician to put a connection to...

    plugging oven into 13a mains

Thanks, I think I might want to get that upgraded if I do wire the oven into the fused spur.

    plugging oven into 13a mains

Thanks guys, it is a single oven / grill so you can either have the oven on or the grill on but not both. I'm planning to give Bosch a call tomorrow as the instructions on their website for this model used to say connect it to a fused spur, but that seems to contradict the ones that have come...

    plugging oven into 13a mains

I'm having my kitchen done (moving my oven from one wall to the opposite one)and the installer said not to bother moving the wiring for where the existing oven is connected but to plug the new oven into the 13a mains. Problem is that the oven is 2.9kw and the intstuctions say do not connect...
