Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

You don't know how true that statement is. From the day they moved in 2 yrs ago, they have been a complete pain. Have had several run-ins. They are neighbours from hell who ride rough-shod over everyone, and make as much noise as possible, mainly to show off. Just in this one incident, he...

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Trailing across the garden, I suppose there are many ways to damage it, impact or otherwise. Here's the rub: the neighbour is a Gassafe plumber, and I'm assuming Part P. Competent - well maybe you're better qualified to judge.

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Thanks for all the replies so far. So, it's looking like it doesn't comply? Can someone just briefly outline why it doesn't comply, which parts aren't compliant (and which parts aren't right, eg. the run along bottom of fence and the cable trailing over the earth), and what needs to be...

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Thanks for your reply. Just to clear a few things up. It's not actually used as a path, although you can physically walk down this gap between our house and the fence. Our drive and link-detached garage are on the other side of the house. The fence line is ours, and so is the narrow strip...

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

The left hand photo shows where the cable crossed from their side, then runs all along bottom of fence. The right photo shows the end of fence along the side of our house. You can just make out the security light on top of the furthest post. Thanks for advice so far.

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Yes they have. Although the fence is down the side of our house, about 3 feet from our wall. We don't go down there much. It's the safety thing which is more of a worry. Live cables trailing over the ground! These people have been a pain since they moved in 2 yrs ago. Will post some pics.

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

We have a fence made of fencing panels between our house and a neighbours. They have installed a PIR controlled light at one end of this fence, and the black mains cable is clipped along the bottom of the panels a few inches above ground level. At the other end of this fence, the cable just...

    Plumbers And Doughnuts

No, don't get excited. Not the eating variety, the type between the close-coupled cistern and pan. When seperating the two (eg. for a syphon change), do plumbers automatically replace the doughnut, even if it wasn't leaking?

Turbomax Hot Water - Not So Hot Any More

Sorry for late reply. Have been away. Update - I have now turned the hw control on the boiler to max. Even though the incomming water isn't as cold as it could be due to mildish winter, the hw only gets hotish if the tap is run quite slowly. The temp doesn't fluctuate, it's constantly bad...

Turbomax Hot Water - Not So Hot Any More

The ability of my Vaillant Turbomax to heat the hot water has been getting worse over the last couple of years. This winter, as the incoming cold water has got colder, so has the hot water coming out of it. With the bath tap full on, the hot is only luke warm. Turning the tap right down is...

Is Carbon Monoxide Sensor Suitable For Wood Burner?

My daughter has a wood burning stove in her living room. Recently I read about someone dying because of fumes leaking into the room on a wood burner, because of a flue fault. Can she use a standard carbon monoxide alarm/detector for her wood burner, or are they only for gas installations?

Can You Run A Plinth Heater On Microbore?

I'm thinking of fitting a plinth heater in my kitchen. Is it OK on 10mm microbore? Also, I realise that the fan switches on when the CH comes on, but how do you control the heat output, so that the kitchen doesn't get too hot?

Should My Combi Go From 1.3 Bar To Zero In 7 Months?

I posted a question about my Broag 28c combi being noisy when the CH was on. //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1637089#1637089 With the help of a knowledgeable friend, we have discovered the fault was caused by the pressure being at zero. We refilled it to 1.3 Bar, and the noise...

Nearly New Broag 28c Combi - Noisy When Heating On.

I had a Broag/Remeha 28c combi fitted 8 months ago which has recently become noisy when the heating is on. I can't get the installer back, as he is on a long holiday visiting family in Oz. It was fitted to my microbore system, which has 4 small single rads and a towel rail. When the heating...

    Dumb Grouting Question

Clueless question of the night! Have put up some large ceramic tiles, with quarter inch grout gap. After putting grout in joins, do I run the wet sponge in line with the gaps, or across the gaps to finish the grout?
