<£200ish Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommed a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw for under £200??

I'm not in the trade but do a lot of DIY, so it will be mainly used for stud work, skirting boards, arcitrave, picture rails, coving etc etc..

Ok i've had a quick look around screwfix with my untrained eye and spotted the following:-

cheap option Erbauer £139

So what do you recon i should go for, is there some i have missed?

Can i find them cheaper elsewhere?

i got the evolution Rage from screwfix for £150, I'm not in the trade either and got it for a large decking project. good value for money in my opinion. and will cut steel/ali (but have not used it for this).

this is the 100V (i got the 240, which they do do).

if you cant stretch to the mid £300 for the big boys toys like the dewalt dw712 which i can recomend as its the saw i have
i personaly would suggest the ryobi as i have loads of ryobi stuff and its well built well desighned good value for money
its a company thats been about for years with an excelent reputation

thanks for the replies. The most i could stretch to would be the Ryobi...

so seems like thats the one to go for, is there any cheaper places i could get it?

isnt that the older model? the screwfix "new" one is EMS2026SCC compare to EMS2026SCL

I have the Rexon and I can't fault it.

Yes, this is the older model. it doesn't have positive stops on the bevel which the new one does.so should be much more accurate as i have the old one and don't completely trust the angles on it.

Does it seem better than a real cheapo? Are the mitres accurate?

I'm looking for one of these too.

B&Q have a new range called Mac Allister.

They do a huge 12" double bevel for just 145.00.

I would like to know if anyone has heard of them or know which saw it is based on.

In a reply from Ryobi the EMS2026SCC and the EMS2026SCL are one and the same.
Apparently Screwfix alter the info in their catalogue for promotional purposes.

I just bough the "SCC" from Screwfix and received the "SCL"

B&Q currently have the De Walt DW 703 on offer at £169 inc vat, I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere. It's been on offer a while now so if you want one be quick. Not a sliding model but still cheap.

Hi Chaps,
Mc Alister, just been in bnq looking at them.
They have no facility to replace the brushes and the adjustable stop for grooves is made of liqourish. everyone had the lever that alows you to bring down the blade broke.
3 year gte sounds good. they have the 12" model at £120 now. ide rather get the ryobi for £160 that has a 2 year industrial gte and all the spares available. regards mark
