Need to cover up less than pretty walls. They have been patched and repaired over the years, but the plaster is pretty sound, although it's not nice pink plaster more of a gritty stone colour. There has been a damp proof added to this room and consequently there is different plaster up to about waist height. I have sanded and repaired as best I can, but will need something to really give it the best finish. Decorators merchants have recommended Wallrock. Has anyone used this stuff or am I best to use the heaviest weight standard lining paper which I may have also to cross line?

Clazza.....are you talking about wallrock as in rolls of expanded polysterene?

It's not polystyrene, the best way I can describe it is it reminds me of Wundaweb! Its that sort of fibrous feel. Wallrock Fibreliner is its brand name. It is supposed to cover all sorts including breeze block, wood panelling, and you are supposed to be able to paint on it like lining paper. I can't see how being quite flexible it doesn't get "sucked" to the wall showing all the things I am trying to hide! You paste the wall with adhesive not wallpaper paste.

I know the stuff you mean now, its normally acrylic/polyester mix....i'd go for lining paper, but for a nice smooth finish I would double line as the higher the grade of lining the more texture you will get on the surface.

Use the 1400 first then finish with a 800 grade.cross line with the 1400....vertical line with the 800.
