2 wire stat

im fitting a new thermostat/clock to my combi boiler and wondered when i remove the link inside the boiler i then wire it to the stat (which is battery powered) but do i wire to 1 & 2 or 1 & 3

here is link to wiring diagram, simple i know , but just wondered.

Looking at the diagram, 1 and 2.

The normal convention is 1 connected to the 'switched live' connection, and 2 to the 'live', if they are so identified, but reversing the two connections would not impede it's function.

3 would normally only be used if the 'stat is used to control cooling or air conditioning systems.
