depends on how much you can scrounge, when ive built them in the past i got scraps like ply etc from building sites, check skips and the like.
you'll be surprised what a professional job can be achieved from scrap.

Does anyone have any idea how much aprox it will cost to build a hutch like the one below, 5ft long 2ft wide and 4ft high like the one below. Will it be alot cheaper to buy wood from a timber yard rather than a shop?

buying from a timber merchants will be cheaper than an DIY shed, not be alot for the amount that you'll need, but never the less cheaper.

With scrap wood, old pallets etc, your only cost is the wire mesh, some felt, and the ironmongery - say £15 tops.

To buy the wood new (and why would you do that for a cr@ppy rabbit hutch?) allow another £20 or so

we have rabbits and they love to gallop about. try to make sure they can stand on their back legs, up high, in their run.
Give them an area to dig. we have sunk an old bath so they can dig away without escaping and getting eaten by the foxes and cats.

we have put in drainage pipes for then to hide in and jump on.
they also like branches and apple tree twigs to chew on.

we have found that patience and expense pays off.

make a run that you can get in easily and will spend time in it.

that way you will take time to make friends with your rabbits/ guinea piga etc and they will trust you.
