Our Ariston combi boiler and CH system was fitted in 2001 and inihibitor was added then. Recently we had to have a new pump and diverter fitted, and AFAIK the boiler was drained. After the job was completed by BG, they went away and all was working ok.
Now on here last week, I posted that as an update to the warm/cold rads problem we had, and someone replied saying 'hope inibitor was added'
So now I know it wasn't but the BG man never mentioned it at the time. Should it be added, and if so can it be done on a running system?

Thanks

Isolate one radiator,(If it has a 1/2" female thread at top where a cap or a bleed valve is placed) losten nut between rad and one of the valves, empty it carefully into decorators tray. You can put a 1/2" trv tail into the hole a short length of hose on that and poor it in, or get some 15mm pipe with an elbow make a grommet of ptfe on it and hold it firmly into the hole, poor it in using a largish mastic nozzle or a small funnel.

Put bleed valve or plug back, open valves bleed rad, repressurise system if it is sealed.

If it isn't sealed put the stuff in the f/e tank, drawing some water out of the drain off to ensure a/ that the fe pipe isn't blocked as they are wont, anbd that the additive finds it's way into the system sooner rather than later.
