Advice please - damaged render by door..

A previous inhabitant of our home has rendered over the front door frame. Now, after years of the door slamming, the hairline crack in the render has actually lead to a chunk falling off..

What's the best / easiest way to fix this? Have never attempted any rendering or anything like this before! The chunks that's fallen off is around 2cm deep

Staple a small strip of eml to the frame, then fill back in with sand/cement.
