At least he's been up front about it, do you think this is a ploy from the liberals to get the sympathy vote?

I don't think so specially when all the mp's drinks are free from the House of Common which cost the taxpayers over £4,000,000  (read it somewhere) last year alone, make you wonder how many does have a drinking problem. If Charlie Kennedy wasn't a drinker they will find something else on him. If he was a good leader then I think they will turn a blind eye about his drinking.

I reckon some rag must have even more evidence which was about to come out, probably damage limitation, which I think a waste of time really. Wonder if he'll walk out of the house with Tone? they must both be on borrowed time.

Remember my theory that it isn't possible for a ginger to become PM? Paddy Ashdown, Neil Kinnock, they all failed.

However: Churchill drank like a fish, from the time he got up very early to the time he went to bed very late. And he got elected TWICE, with a gap in the middle.

So, Kennedy is obviously trying to counteract his ginger yin with some alcoholic yang... The two cancel each other out.

Of course, I don't mean to be inflammatory, but is anyone actually that interested? He isn't likely to become the next PM unless the entire Labour and Tory parties are erradicated in a freak political accident... and only because the Greens will be too stoned to remember to go to the hustings.

It would be nice to have a three-party system though.

maybe David Cameron should join the greens in that case

About 500 MPs are there not? So, £8000 a year EACH. Seeing as parliament is on for about 8 months of the year, that makes it about 34 weeks, or 170 days. So they are spending an AVERAGE of nearly £50 a day on booze. And how many MPs are there for every day of parliament anyway?

Must be drinking the good stuff, can't imagine they are all on 25-pints a day

Can't remember but I think it's including the guests as well and I wouldn't mind betting that some of them are taking a few bottles for homework and private party

Well as the day drags on things are not looking too good for charles Kennedy just a mater of time before he keels over, politics! hell! their really sticking the knife in and giving it a good twist. funny how the leader of the tories can be a dope smoking, coke snorting, socialist and yet kennedy cant enjoy 15 pints and a packet of crisps.
