    If you want a cheap and effective way of finding your family tree then go visit your local Mormon temple.

    They believe that if you get baptised into the Church of the whatever-they-call-it that all your ancestors become mormons too. Which must really pi55 them off it they were devout pagans, but Mormons don't care about that sort of niceness.

    So, in order to have them admitted, the mormons need to know who they are. So they have built up a marvelously detailed family tree of quite a lot of us.

    The downside of course is that once they get you through the doors they will try to turn you into one of them. Sort of like the Invasion of the Body Snatchers....

    Thanks. I just did that and found my dad and his parents recorded in the 1911 census.

    Pred, just google familysearch.org. Site run by Mormons and I believe at no cost to users.

    As for Joe and the "Neandertal" rant - so unnecessary !!

    And family tree stuff... there are many genealogy resources, but you need to get into the national records database thing.... not sussed that out yet !
