hi i live in a 1950s semi and have a wooden ground floor.the floors seem to vibrate when someone walks past.i have tongue and groove boards. Also i have had a quick look under the boards and the joists seem ok in the walls.the only sleeper wall is the room divider which is halfway in a 22 foot room.its a strange sensation to be felt.would new boards make a lot of difference or is there a way of extra support.any ideas much appreciated.

Are your floorboards nailed to the joists? If so it could be that there is 'too much room' in the nail hole (by ongoing movement of the boards during it's life).
Installing a new floor on top of a 'moving' floor doesn't solve your problem, unless you put extra nails in the existing floor)

What size are the floor joists. For a 22ft span with only one sleeper wall they should be a minimum of 6x2. I they are less than this you should insert a carrier beam midway between the joists .If they are greater it is more likely that the packings were the joists go in the wall have come loose. In that case buy some plastic wedges and hammer them in beneath the joists
Good luck

Maybe your floor joists need to be closer together. If you have vibration your sub straight needs a good look at.
