Bamboo

Do you know any details about Bamboo likes its properties, shapes, uses, etc.

This material is going to be used for a water fountain that I will create for AS Level Product Design since it will be an oriental type fountain so maybe bamboo is suitable. Can anyone list some other authentic Japanese materials aswell?

Bamboo is tough, flexible, type of gras (not wood). It's a tropical plant, don't think it appreciates wet feet, so if you thinking of using it as plant in the fountain better think of alternatives.
It's so flexible and tough it is used as scaffolding!
It's also used for flooring. When the bamboo is treated with heat the sugar in the plant caramalises to a nice warm 'coffee/caramel' colour.
