Hi,

We have a bathroom sink mixer tap and we can no longer get any hot water from the tap. The cold water comes from the tank in the loft and all other hot water taps in the house are working correctly.

Does this sound like a airlock? I have tried holding my hand over the mixer tap in the kitchen (the cold water here is mains pressure) but, apart from getting covered in water, it did not fix the bathroom tap.

Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be something up with the tap rather than an airlock?

Any help will be much appreciated :D
Thanks,
Michelle

If you haven't drained down the hot water supply then this is likely to be a fault in the tap or blockage in the pipework or swanneck.

Isolate and dismantle tap. There may be a service valve just below the basin or a gate valve close to the HW cylinder. Just crack open the isolating valve and see if you have hot water to the tap. If so the problem
is in the tap body or swan neck and should be easily seen.

(If you can't isolate the tap and are very brave you could try running the bath and kitchen hot taps (full on) to cut down the flow to the basin and dismantle basin tap slowly to see if you are getting flow to the tap. Have a few towells handy to mop up water) Do this with boiler off and hot water run until it is cold.

Post telling how you get on.
