Bathroom Tiles - big or small?

I intend to re tile my bathroom which is quite small. I've been told that larger tiles in a small bathroom make the room feel bigger. However, i've also read the oppposite -that small tiles should be used in a small bathroom for the same reason..

Was about to buy some quite large tiles ( probably about 500mm x 300mm approx) but not sure what to do now.

Any advice much appreciated.

Can you not get some samples of each size & lay them out on the wall, then decide.
