I have a Baxi Solo 2 50PF boiler which has worked fine for years until now. Of recent it struggled to cope with heating and HW, so I flushed the Heating system and it seemed better.

Now with Heating off, it is struggling to heat up the HW, in fact it has stopped heating the water, although all but the burner lites are on and the tank stat is demanding heat and the HW system/controller is on.

I had planned to change the pump (a Myson CP53) during the summer related to issues in first para, but this curve ball has thrown me.

For info, the Immersion was off, all this time, so now I have turned off the Central Heating system inc. HW, but put the immersion on.

Can anyone provide any assistance ?

As you are obviously suspicious of the pump then change it. Other problems could be low gas or burner pressure, will need corgi to check. Why did you think it needed flushing?

The system had become sluggish, with some rooms not really coming on at all, despite my opening all valves and setting max on all individual stats in rooms. Also, had been in house 4 yrs and system treatment was dated 1996.

Original flush brought out much "gunk", so got additive from specialist heating supplier and added and reflushed a month later. Yet more gunk, then back flushed.

Even after this, on HW only, the system was slow, sometimes taking over an hour for the Boiler to kick-in, so I was very suspicious of the pump, which was old and getting v. noisy.

Finally, the system stopped heating water, despite pump running, thermostat switching, valve operating and boiler being on (but not burner).

As to clicking and small flame, no was not aware of such.

If no pilot or flame then I would suspect the fan or aps. The fan proved light can come on even though the fan or aps has not proved it

If you can hear clicking or see a small pilot then suspect the gas valve or pilot rectification.

I can hear the pilot /roar of the boiler when the "burner" lite is off, though no bl;ue flame in small window.
The clicking can be heard with the cover off, when boiler "idle".
Pump seems to be always on, but water not getting to thermostat temp.
Boiler has come on a few times with both HW & CH ON, after pump replaced and system refilled and bled.

May be as simple as blocked pilot injector. Very common fault & all parts need to be changed in kit

Boiler noes comes on for short periods, then all drops out barring Boiler on lite. Wait for a short while and cycle repeats ???

sounds like rectification or fan/flue fault

24 hrs after pump replaced. although working slightly different (to my eyes), it is working fine and we have piping hot water again.
Will test out with heating as well shortly.
