Well at least the licence fee isn't being wasted on those costume dramas I hate!

Seriously though, what a waste of bleedin money! I've put my application in for the role of Chief Executive... well I've got as much chance as the next guy if this is their idea of effective budgeting and cost cutting!

in the eighties there was much talk about the staff at the beeb having to tighten their belts and accept no pay rises whilst the likes of marmaduke hussey enjoyed outrageous rises, they introduced a scheme called producers choice which basically sacked a load of workers, but the entire staff at the beeb had to go on day courses to learn about this scheme, with courses in london and scotland, so what did the "cash strapped" corporation do?
They sent workers from london by plane to attend courses in scotland whilst the scots were sent by plane to london!! we were talking literally thousands attending these courses over the months at enormous cost to the licence payer.....nothing changes!

    Its happening in every industry.
Last year we took a 3.5% pay cut and no annual rise, equal in total to about a 5% paycut. Since then we have all been sent on H&S courses, FLT driving courses, inter-personal awareness courses, etc. They now want us to come up with suggestions for saving money!

Let me see, what can we cut back on?
Mmmm, can't think of anything off the top of my head.
Lets have a meeting for half a day to discuss it.
