Hi, I've just laid DARK OAK wood floor on the entire first floor of the house.
The cuts on the edges are straight and quite tidy along skirting boards, so I was thinking of just adding brown silicone (as seen by us in a few newly built houses) instead of scotia beads like this:

Looking at toolstation/ screwfix websites, there is quite a choice of brown silicones, I was wondering if someone could guide which one I should be after:

Many thanks in advance..

assuming your skirting is painted get quadrant or orther molding from your wood yard/timber merchants around 70p a metre in full wall lengths and paint the skirting colour

I think silicone would looks more tidy than wood trims.. Also it would be more work with wood trims compared to silicone?

you must leave the expansion gaps empty
yes silicon will give a bit but you fill a 12mm gap you are down to around 3mm expansion before you hit a brick wall

I would recommend a beading due to leaving the full expansion gap, I feel it would look a lot neater.

Thanks for your advice. Just to let you know that the wood floor has been nailed, would you still advise to use the beads than silicone?
