Drain rods always come in handy ;)

Seriously, jet flushing will help but darned expensive.

If you lift the cover off and check which pipe is draining you can push a running hose pipe up connected to the drain rods this helps move the solids.

Why would you think that the manhole is clear when you haven't lifted the cover?

you havent lost the toilet block holder have you

a few years ago most blockages could be put down to them
flush the toilet let it go down use the lue brush to lower the level put your rubber glove on and----------------

You can always use a large industrial plunger in the toilet pan. Its usually green and costs about £20 you can buy it from drainage center b & q sometimes sell it to well worth the money. I would defiantly check the drain before you call out a company as they charge you by the half an hour and also for chemicals a very expensive way to get it sorted. If you do get a professional company make sure you know what you are going to be paying before they come out. Also there is a product on the internet called one shot drain cleaner its acid but is pipe friendly. ill send you the link. all cheaper options.

If the clip of a plastic freshener holder has lodged somewhere then you'll have to take the pan out.

If the blockage is downstream of the first manhole then a £20 plunger will no more than waste £20.

Lift the bleedin' cover and get stuck in with the rods.
