Blocking up a tap hole ?

I have a replacement basin for my old cracked one. Old one had a single tap hole with mixer tap. New one has two tap holes but I can\\\'t find any goldy coloured taps remotely like the old style I had.
I am toying with the idea of using the old mixer tap in one of the tapholes and then blocking off the other hole. Is there something I can buy to block of a tap hole ?

Any good plumber's merchant should have white or chrome tap hole blanks. All the "gold" taps are different colours!
