Bonnet will not open

cant get the bonnet to open on a skoda fabia, the cable has not broken but the release must be jammed . any ideas how to reseolve the problem

Try pulling the lever and holding it while someone else 'slaps' the front of the bonnet lightly then giving it a pull upwards.
