boost switch compatibility

Hi there

I want to replace my water heater's fused spur switch with a boost switch.

I think this is compatible - can someone double check for me? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SGPSPS.html

It seems as though it will be suitable for your requirements but the instalation instructions say it must have a means of isolation in the fixed wiring supplying it. To me this suggests you would need to have it connected via the FCU rather than replacing it.

Poor description, I would have said electronic timer with boost. As @jj4091 says, must be protected with fuse or MCB/RCBO no larger than 16 amp, but yes you can fit a timer, common idea when you have an off-peak supply.

I note my weekly use by the immersion heater is 2.5 kWh approx, when I was on off-peak, off-peak 8.95p peak 31.31p so could save 56p per week, so 36.85/56p = 66 weeks to pay for its self. Well, that's better than my iboost+ which will never likely pay for its self.

Unless you have solar or off-peak, it is rather pointless. The tanks take so long to heat and cool with all the insulation on them, may as well just leave it switched on.
