The machine keeps on the washing part of the cycle and wont move on to the next step. Any ideas about the problem please ?

Highly likely you have a heating issue....open circuit heater element, break or bad connection in heater wiring, defective heater relay on pcb, or NTC failure. Check element resistance with a multimeter first ( should be 25 - 30 ohms).

Thanks -But as it is a machine with both hot and cold water connections could it still be a heater element ? I had a look inside and found an unconnected yellow/green wire seemingly attached to the motor as the spade terminal had fallen apart. Have reattached with a new spade terminal and waiting to try machine again later today.

Yes it could still be a heater circuit problem.

The yellow and green wire is an earth connection
