old kitchen door/window has been removed to leave a 1.5 metre opening into new extension. Walls are standard english brick. Above the opening is a single brick arch and behind this a wooden lintel.

Can I leave well alone, or do I need to replace the wooden lintel and nock out the brick arch to replace with lintel

A bit difficult with seeing it but if the wood is healthy and have at least 150mm overhung on each side then I can't see any problem by leaving it alone. I have 103 years old property with all wooden lintels with no problem.

Cheers masona,
The arch appears to have slipped and 4 of the bricks can move up and down. I was considering repointing/re-cementing them but I am a bit worried long term
If I were to replace with lintels can I use 2 concrete lintels.
