Building a new flat roof

Hi
I am going to have a go at building a flat roof on the extension we are doing at the moment.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do, or where I can go to find any information on how to do it.

I am hoping to put a large sky light /dome inside it to let lots of light in to it (1.5 x 4 mts).
There are lots of different materials out there for covering, felt, tar stuff and fibreglass by the sounds of it, but what is easier for a newbie? and whats is better?
