burned kitchen worktop upstand

Hi All,

As you can see on the photos the kitchen worktop upsand is too close to hob and its getting burned. Also its start coming off where the sink is. I was thinking to put some metal angle on top of that and fit it with screws. Anyone got any idea?

Hob should not be within 100mm of anything flammable/vertical surface, hob should not have been connected by any Gas safe installer.?
