Burying pipes in concrete

Hi folks,

I have a concrete floor on to which I plan to lay slate tiles. Beforehand I need to run a hot and cold wate pipe across the floor to supply a sink, dishwasher and washing machine. I plan to dig out a deep channel in the concreate to bury the (15mm) pipes.

Do I need to wrap the pipes in anything protective or install some kind of ducting? Also, what types of concreate mix should I use once the pipes have been laid? Wet concrate or a dry "screed"?

Many thanks,

Taskin.

You could wrap the pipes in insulation before casing them in concrete, but personally I would arrange to have reasonable access to the pipes by putting them in a duct and fitting a removable cover.
