So I’m looking for my first router, initially it is for a specific task but ultimately I want something that I’ll be for more projects at home. For now I need something that I can use for cutting lock rebates for a specific electronic lock:

Any advice on what router I should be looking at? I haven’t set a budget yet but I don’t want to spend hundreds on a tool that may get fairly infrequent use, but still want something that will help me get an accurate result.

Cheers,

TC.

heeellloooo tec :D :D :D :D

the depth of cut precludes a 1/4" router
assuming you are using a jig i would practise on several offcuts first making several small passes up to full depth

indeed i would practise with load of cutters on loads off ofcuts and work up to such large cut getting used to the router as you go

and if you dont have a template use a spade bit and sharp chisel
