Bypass valve

Hi,

I am fitting a bypass valve to my cental heating. Circuit diagrams suggest bypass pipe needs to be 1.5metres long
Is this needed if bypass is 5 metres from boiler

No, I think you are mis-reading the diagram. They usually state that there should be a minimum distance of 1.5M between tha boiler and bypass valve, thus giving a minimum of 3M circuit.

I hope it is an automatic bypass so it conforms to latest regs.
