hi

Recently brought a 3kw single oven that I need to have installed into a CCU. Previous config (for last oven) was a standard single 13amp socket linked to a dedicated 20Amp MCB / 2.5mm cable radial circuit. Electrician has suggested before I have a CCU installed I should rewire with a 6mm cable and 32Amp MCB - complete novice but seems like overkill to me - wouldn't a FCU with a 13Amp fuse and 2.5mm cable suffice?

Hmm, by my calculations, your oven will draw 13.04 A so doesn't need a 6mm cable nor a 32A breaker.

If your electrician wanted to be extra cautious, what about replacing the socket with a CCU, hard wiring the oven and leaving it on the 20A mcb??

thought 6mm and 32Amp MCB was excessive.

your suggestions seems to make sense.
