Hi

this is a theory question only as it's something I've always wanted to know.

if you are having an outdoor socket fitted how do you handle the cable zones on the inside of the house?

if for example it was to be fitted under a window outside and there were no existing power points inside do you have to put an accessory on the wall I side to create a zone?

what if you cant do this or dont want one there?

Like I say, always wanted to know

In the same way as for any other purpose.

There are zones within 150mm. of the corners and ceiling, but yes you could fit a double pole switch for example, which is a good idea for outside wiring anyway.

Go through the wall where it is allowed and run the cable outside.

Usually, there is already an accessory from which the supply is taken through the wall for an outside socket.
If the supply is coming from the consumer unit for the outside supply then you would probably not run the cable on the inside walls.
Why does the outside socket have to be under a window? Fit it somewhere else.
