Hi there u have been having issue flushing my downstairs toilet and managed to plunge the outside hooper and pull several flash wipes up. The blockage still exists but I need some help identifying this black stone like thing at bottom of hopper please. The black thing feels solid and below the small gap the toilet waste seems to be coming up

That is a gully, does it serve the kitchen sink?

It serves a sink in the downstairs toilet and the toilet itself

So if you flush the toilet, the waste goes through that gully? If so that is wrong and needs digging up.

When we flush that water comes up that small gap at top of that black thing

There is no manhole in this garden. There is only another hopper directly to the right of this one which collect gutter water. The 2nd hooper is connected to the one I have an issue with.

    They are not called hoppers!

    Where is the manhole?

Yep, not every house has one. The black thing in your picture looks like mud or a grease buildup. You have a blockage somewhere, it’s just choosing the least path of resistance (your gulley).

The black thing feels hard, do I need to try and remove this black thing?

Not yet, I’d concentrate more on the blockage.
