Can you use different manufcatuers MCBs in different CUs?

This may be so stupid you may all laugh.

I know that "in theory" one company's 16A MCB has the same properties as another company's 16A MCB (assuming same types they have very similar tripping characteristics)

but does it matter (and is it possible) to use a different MCB to the CU? eg. MK CU witha Wylex MCB?

am i being thick?
 
Not all MCB's are the same size and not all MCB's have the live terminal in the same place in relation to the DIN rail - this means that you might not get a good connection between MCB and busbar and run the risk of overheating/fire.

It's always better to stick with the same brand but if you must use a different one, then check that they are very similar.
