cast iron waste leak

Hi all, I've had the occassional toiletly smell that I've eventually traced to where the cast iron toilet waste spur joins the cast iron downpipe. I'm on the ground floor in a local authority block so can't replace the whole lot . . . . any ideas as to whats my best bet for sealing up the joint? Many thanks
