cement polishing

Watching a recent tv programme, the subject of polishing cement to a granite like finish was mentioned, it seems this is common in north america! I have only ever seen it once, and that was achieved by mistake, by one of my students, who can't remember how! any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Juze,

I believe its acheived much like polishing granite, i.e a laborious process using progressively finer abrasives. But I don't think all cement surfaces are suitable. I've not heard of anyone in the UK providing this service but I'm sure there are some around, a quick search on Google showed up a few US sites, i.e http://www.demmertandassociates.com/html/polishing.htm
