Hi

my radiators make an annoying drumming clanking sound when they are, switched on. The noise seems to circulate between the radiators, if one of the radiators making a noise is turned down the noise stops and it moves on to the next radiator and starts again.

The system is an Ariston system and is around a year old, I've tried bleeding the radiators which worked for a while but the noise started again. A friend reckoned i should balance the radiators before bleeding them the next time ....... any ideas?

Cheers

It sounds like the thermostatic valves are the problem, are they in the right way round?

See if the lockshield valves are fully open, count the number of turns, as you need to be able to set them to the original position. If they are fully open the system needs balancing. There are several places on the internet with the information about how to do it.
